Dorm 17-2: We Eat Like Saiyans

John 21:15 – “So when they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon, son of John, do you love Me more then these?’ He said to Him. ‘Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.’ He said to him ‘Feed my Sheep.’”

Teaching Men to Feed Themselves

On 17-2, we will strive to teach men how to take personal responsibility for their own personal growth in Christ, and how to be powerful workers in the church after they have left Liberty University. We will teach our men practical methods of Bible study, prayer, and discipleship, as well as the importance of worship, fellowship, and personal accountability with other Christians.

What is a Saiyan?

Saiyans are a proud race that lives for two things: to fight and to eat. They live disciplined lifestyles of constant training, and are consumed by the need to better their abilities and move to the next level. They constantly seek out and fight those more powerful than themselves in order to make themselves stronger. When saiyans are defeated and beaten within an inch of their life, they heal and become even stronger than before.
Like the saiyans we should live disciplined lifestyles of constant training in the Word of God. We should be consumed by the desire to grow closer to the Lord through his Word, prayer, and fellowship with other Christians. Like the Saiyans we should seek those who are more knowledgeable and more mature than us, so that we may learn from them. This cycle of training and learning should continue throughout our lives. Like saiyans, when a Christian falls from his walk with God, he should come back stronger than before.
The second characteristic of the saiyan is an insatiable appetite. In order to maintain their lifestyle of training, saiyans eats much more than normal people. It is quite common for a saiyan to eat six VERY large meals a day. Likewise we, as followers of Christ, should have an insatiable appetite for the Word of God, “eating” large portions of it regularly.
